Four residential buildings in Bettembourg are reinterpreted through a renovation that improves energy performance, comfort and the overall architectural coherence of the ensemble. Developed for the Fonds du Logement as part of a social housing scheme, the intervention carefully balances technical upgrades with the continuity of daily life within an inhabited environment.
The façades are reworked to unify the existing volumes and refine their presence within the neighbourhood. A ventilated façade system combines high-performance insulation with standing seam zinc cladding, introducing both durability and a more precise architectural expression.
The intervention includes a complete upgrade of the building envelope, with cellulose roof insulation, rock wool façade insulation, aluminium triple glazing and the treatment of thermal bridges. Double-flow ventilation with heat recovery is integrated to ensure consistent indoor air quality and improved energy efficiency.
Circulation and shared spaces are reorganised through independent galvanised steel structures, allowing the new interventions to remain structurally efficient while limiting impact on the existing buildings. The construction process is carefully phased to minimise disruption, ensuring that residents can remain in place throughout the works.
The project results in a more efficient and coherent ensemble, offering improved living conditions while reinforcing the long-term performance of the buildings.
